Beijing, March 25: Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, met with Jerome Powell, the UK Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor, on March 23 in Beijing.
Wang emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of both countries. He urged for exchanges at all levels, deepening cooperation across various sectors, effectively managing differences, and promoting the stable development of China-UK relations.
Powell expressed the UK’s readiness to work with China to implement the outcomes of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to China. He highlighted the need to strengthen communication and cooperation, aiming to develop a long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides also discussed the situation in Iran and the crisis in Ukraine.
Wang noted that the adverse effects of the Iranian situation are increasing. He warned that prolonged conflict would only lead to more damage and severe long-term consequences. He called for all parties to work together to bring the issue back to a political resolution through dialogue and negotiation.
