New Delhi, June 9: Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain and star batsman Virat Kohli shared an emotional post on social media celebrating RCB’s consecutive IPL championship win.
In a video posted on X, Kohli reflected on the team’s journey throughout the season and the strong bond that helped them overcome challenges on their way to the title.
Kohli wrote, “We started the season with confidence and ended with back-to-back titles. This team has experienced every emotion together—ups and downs, pressure, struggles, and unwavering support. It feels very special because this place is home.”
After 17 seasons without an IPL title, RCB clinched its first championship in the 18th season and successfully defended it in IPL 2026. RCB won the title in IPL 2025 by defeating Punjab Kings and followed it up by overcoming Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026.
In the IPL 2026 final, held at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first. This decision proved fruitful as their bowlers restricted GT to 155 runs.
RCB chased down the target, scoring 161 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in just 18 overs, securing a 5-wicket victory and their second consecutive title. Kohli played a crucial role in this triumph, scoring 75 runs off 42 balls, including the winning six. He was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Throughout the season, Kohli’s powerful batting was instrumental in RCB’s dominant display. He amassed 675 runs in 16 matches, featuring one century and five half-centuries.
