Mumbai, May 14: Film producer and director Vipul Amrutlal Shah has voiced his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for economic caution. In a statement released via social media through Sunshine Pictures, he emphasized that conserving fuel and being cautious with gold purchases play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s economic stability and foreign exchange reserves.
In a post on Instagram, Shah stated, “I completely agree with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concerns. Simple suggestions like being careful with fuel usage or gold purchases are actually linked to preserving India’s economic stability and forex reserves.”
He also referenced his upcoming film “Governor,” which is set against the backdrop of the 1990s when India faced a severe economic crisis due to wars in Gulf countries, leading to the need to send gold abroad for stability.
Shah remarked, “Interestingly, my film ‘Governor’ is based on a similar backdrop. Today, as global fuel uncertainty and geopolitical tensions are once again making headlines, it seems strange that some truths align with the concerns depicted in my film. Sometimes, patriotism is also about fulfilling responsibilities.”
Inspired by true events from the 1990 economic crisis, “Governor” is presented by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and supported by Sunshine Pictures. The writing team includes Suvendu Bhattacharya, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Shah, with co-producer Ashish A. Shah.
In the film, actor Manoj Bajpayee will portray the role of the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Directed by renowned Marathi filmmaker and actor Chinmay Mandlekar, the film features music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
“Governor” is set to hit theaters on June 12.
