
Mathura, March 21: Chaos erupted in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning following the murder of prominent cow protector Chandrashekhar. Known as “Farsa Wale Baba,” he was allegedly killed by cow smugglers who ran him over with a vehicle. This incident sparked outrage among local cow protectors, leading to stone-pelting against the police. Authorities have arrested one suspect and are actively searching for others involved.
According to reports, Chandrashekhar was killed near the Naupura village in the Kosi Kalan police jurisdiction. Following the incident, local residents and cow protectors gathered on the Chhata National Highway, demanding the arrest of the culprits, which resulted in a traffic jam stretching several kilometers. Police and administrative officials arrived at the scene to calm the crowd.
Tensions escalated quickly, leading to violent clashes where protesters began throwing stones at the police. In response, law enforcement resorted to a baton charge to disperse the crowd. Several individuals sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they were later discharged after receiving first aid.
Cow protectors are insisting that the police expedite the arrests of the suspects, threatening further protests if their demands are not met.
Police officials reported that as soon as they received information about the traffic jam, forces from multiple police stations were dispatched to the scene to restore order. However, the situation deteriorated rapidly, resulting in stone-throwing. Video recordings of the incident have been captured for further investigation.
Authorities confirmed that one suspect was apprehended at the scene, while three others managed to flee under the cover of darkness. Interrogations are currently underway with the arrested individual, and several teams have been formed to locate the remaining suspects. Additionally, roadblocks have been set up in surrounding areas to facilitate their swift capture.
Officials stated that based on the arrested suspect’s testimony, efforts are ongoing to track down the other individuals involved. They assured the public that no one connected to this incident would be spared from legal action.
