Vinicius Junior Commits to Real Madrid Amid Bayern Clash

Madrid, April 7: Vinicius Junior has expressed his intention to stay at Real Madrid for the long term, dismissing speculation about his future with the club.

The Brazilian forward, whose contract extends until June 2027, stated he anticipates remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu for many more years.

Recently, Vinicius has been linked to potential transfers, especially as his contract approaches a point where he could negotiate with other teams. However, the 25-year-old reassured fans that there is no immediate concern regarding his situation.

“I hope I can stay for a long time,” Vinicius remarked when discussing his future. “We are very calm because I have the president’s trust.” He added, “At the right moment, we will take care of the renewal because this is the club of my dreams.”

Since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018, Vinicius has evolved into one of the team’s key attacking players, netting 123 goals and contributing significantly to the club’s recent successes.

Despite his long-term commitment, Vinicius acknowledged that the beginning of the current season was challenging under former head coach Xabi Alonso. He admitted to struggling to find his rhythm during that time.

“I was playing matches but not many minutes,” Vinicius shared. “It was difficult because every coach has his own methods, and I did not connect the way he wanted.” Alonso was dismissed in January after a tough stretch of results and was succeeded by Alvaro Arbeloa.

Vinicius noted that the managerial change has helped restore his confidence. “I hope I can continue with Arbeloa because I have a wonderful connection with him, and he has always given me confidence,” he said.

He also compared Arbeloa’s coaching style to that of former Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who led Vinicius for several seasons before taking charge of the Brazil national team in 2025.

“Arbeloa has made it clear what he wants from me,” Vinicius explained. “I went a long time without scoring goals when I was not in the right mindset, and I was very young. But the best players always bounce back.”

Real Madrid is gearing up for a crucial week in Europe, hosting Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Vinicius is expected to play a pivotal role as Madrid aims for a strong result heading into the return leg.
