VHP Calls for Exclusive Hindu Access to Garba Events

VHP spokesperson advocates for Hindu-only entry at Garba events, urging organizers to verify identities and enforce religious symbols.

Mumbai, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : The World Hindu Council (VHP) has made a bold statement regarding access to Garba events, asserting that only individuals who practice Hinduism should be allowed entry. Spokesperson Shri Raj Nair emphasized the need for organizers to conduct identity checks at the entrance. He also discussed the significance of traditional symbols like tilak and kalawa.

Nair stated that the VHP firmly believes Garba is a religious celebration meant exclusively for Hindus. Addressing queries about non-Hindus showing reverence for Hindu deities, he insisted that such individuals should first formally embrace Hinduism.

He mentioned that the organization has reached out to Garba event organizers and plans to send them letters outlining these requests. According to Nair, VHP and Bajrang Dal members will monitor the events closely.

In cases where individuals attempt to gain entry by force or conceal their identity, he advised seeking police assistance and adhering to the law. Nair also warned that any forced entry would be met with a response in line with Bajrang Dal’s approach, although he reiterated the importance of contacting law enforcement first.

Regarding identity verification at Garba venues, he noted that many events last year successfully implemented checks and maintained order, with only a few incidents reported. He urged organizers to continue this practice and emphasized the necessity of requiring tilak and kalawa for entry, alongside the presence of cutouts of Lord Varaha.

Nair confirmed that the VHP would engage with organizers to ensure these measures are put into place and that their demands are clearly communicated.
