JDU Expels Anant Singh and Neelam Devi for Anti-Party Activities
JDU expels Anant Singh and Neelam Devi for six years due to anti-party actions and support for rival candidates in recent elections.

Patna, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Janata Dal (United) has taken decisive action against Anant Kumar Singh, the MLA from Mokama, expelling him from the party’s primary membership for six years. This decision, effective immediately, also extends to his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, who has been similarly expelled.
According to the party’s announcement, Singh has repeatedly disregarded party directives. He is accused of using inappropriate and derogatory language against the party’s top leadership and actively campaigning against the party’s candidate in the recent Legislative Council elections.
The JDU claims that Singh openly supported candidates from other parties, undermining the party’s electoral efforts. This behavior was deemed a serious breach of discipline and prompted the expulsions.
Furthermore, the party has indicated it will recommend to the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly the cancellation of Singh’s membership under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Neelam Devi was also expelled for her involvement in anti-party activities.
During the recent elections, Anant Singh diverged from the party line by endorsing candidates from Prashant Kishor’s party, Jan Suraj, while publicly opposing JDU’s candidate, Neeraj Kumar. This defiance has led to the party’s stringent stance on discipline.
The actions taken against Singh and Devi signal JDU’s commitment to maintaining party integrity and adherence to its directives. In the wake of the elections, JDU’s national president and former Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, had met with Neeraj Kumar, which was interpreted as a show of support for him amid the turmoil.
With these expulsions, the JDU leadership has made it clear that it will not tolerate acts of indiscipline within its ranks.
