A group of students from Uttarakhand is discovering West Bengals culture and heritage through the Youth Sangam initiative.

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : A group of students and teachers from Uttarakhand is currently visiting West Bengal as part of the Youth Sangam initiative, organized by the Ministry of Education. This program aims to provide students with the chance to learn about different cultures and traditions across India.
During their visit, the Uttarakhand delegation met with West Bengal’s Governor, R. N. Ravi. The discussions focused on cultural exchange, education, and strengthening relationships between various states. The program is designed to foster national unity and enhance direct contact among the youth of different regions.
On October 9, the students explored Kolkata’s Prinsep Ghat and the Sundarbans, immersing themselves in the state’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Prinsep Ghat, located along the Hooghly River, is one of Kolkata’s renowned historical sites. The visit allowed the students to appreciate the city’s historical context and vibrant atmosphere.
The Youth Sangam initiative, which aligns with the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ campaign, aims to strengthen the spirit of national unity among young people. The program is coordinated by Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand, while the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is hosting the students in West Bengal.
In their meeting with the governor, the delegation discussed the importance of cultural exchange and learning opportunities. Students gained insights into West Bengal’s unique cultural identity and were encouraged to foster dialogue and mutual understanding.
This initiative not only introduces students to the culture of other states but also promotes communication and understanding among them. The seventh phase of the program involves 20 pairs of states and union territories, allowing youth to explore each other’s cultures, educational institutions, and developmental efforts.
Through this initiative, the youth are encouraged to step outside their own states and understand the lifestyles, traditions, and social environments of other regions. They also have opportunities to meet people from diverse backgrounds, gain new experiences, and form friendships. The visit by Uttarakhand’s youth to West Bengal is a significant step in this direction, highlighting the importance of understanding the country’s diverse cultural heritage and enhancing respect among people from different regions.
Through the Youth Sangam, the central government aims to strengthen the spirit of a united India, where diversity coexists with unity, and shared experiences bring citizens closer together.
