Uttarakhand Chief Minister Celebrates Phooldei Festival with Children

Mumbai, March 14: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated the ‘Phooldei’ festival at his residence on Saturday. He extended warm wishes to the residents of the state on this occasion.

The festival was celebrated with joy and traditional customs at the Chief Minister’s residence. Dressed in traditional attire, children offered flowers and rice at the doorstep, wishing for everyone’s happiness and prosperity. They sang folk songs like ‘Phool Dei-Chhamma Dei, Jatuke Diyala-Utuke Sai’. The Chief Minister welcomed the children and presented them with gifts.

CM Dhami emphasized that ‘Phooldei’ is a festival that upholds the rich folk culture, traditions, and respect for nature in the state. He noted that this festival heralds the arrival of spring, conveying a message of nature’s beauty and new energy in life. It serves as a reminder to always express gratitude towards nature.

He stated that preserving Uttarakhand’s folk culture and festivals is a collective responsibility. We should celebrate our local festivals with great enthusiasm so that they are passed down to future generations, ensuring our folk culture remains immortal.

The Chief Minister added that the ‘Phooldei’ festival, which conveys gratitude towards nature and welcomes spring, inspires us to stay connected to our roots and introduce these invaluable traditions to future generations.

Additionally, CM Dhami shared photos on the social media platform ‘X’, writing, “On the occasion of the ‘Phooldei’ festival, a symbol of the rich folk traditions of Devbhoomi, children arrived at the government residence. Dressed in colorful traditional attire, these little guests adorned the doorstep with flowers and rice. When they sang sweetly, ‘Phooldei, Phooldei, Chhamma Dei…’, the atmosphere was filled with the fragrance of spring. The simplicity, joy, and warmth of these children are a living reflection of our cultural values. I wish for a bright future for all the children.”
