Political Tensions Rise After PM Modis Comments on MLC Elections
Political discourse heats up as PM Modis remarks spark reactions from Congress and AIMIM following MLC elections.

New Delhi, October 28 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape has intensified following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on social media regarding the recent MLC elections, where Congress failed to secure any seats. AIMIM spokesperson Waris Pathan advised Congress to engage in self-reflection after their defeat. Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and MP Pramod Tiwari also questioned Modi’s statements, offering their perspectives on the election outcomes and voting processes.
Speaking in Mumbai, Waris Pathan emphasized that Congress should seriously consider the reasons behind their loss. He criticized the party for attempting to blame others for their defeat, stating that it is crucial for any political party to introspect. Pathan highlighted that while it is easy to point fingers, understanding and accepting one’s shortcomings is essential. He illustrated this point by noting that when one finger is pointed at another, three fingers point back.
Pathan further remarked that Asaduddin Owaisi or the AIMIM did not contest the elections, yet the results are evident. He questioned whom Congress would hold responsible for their defeat when their opponents were not in the race. He reiterated that the current results present an opportunity for Congress to reflect on their performance and urged the party to focus on the real reasons for their failure, rather than shifting blame.
In the meantime, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate raised the issue of Varanasi in response to PM Modi’s comments. She pointed out that the BJP had suffered a defeat in Varanasi, which was conducted via ballot paper.
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also challenged PM Modi’s remarks, suggesting that he might be the first prime minister to comment on the limited scope of MLC elections. He noted Modi’s apparent concern and impatience, indicating an understanding of the Prime Minister’s reaction.
Tiwari highlighted that the MLC elections were conducted using ballot papers, which Modi referenced while drawing attention to Congress’s failures. He urged Modi to show courage and questioned why the Prime Minister seemed so troubled. Tiwari also called for upcoming elections in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab to be held using ballot papers.
