Lucknow, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government has taken decisive action against negligence in the resolution of pending cases in the state’s revenue courts. Following directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, four tehsildars and one naib tehsildar have been suspended for their failure to expedite case processing.
Recently, CM Adityanath conducted a high-level review of the pending cases in the state’s revenue courts. During this meeting, he instructed officials to ensure that revenue disputes are resolved within a set timeframe. He emphasized that any level of negligence in handling these cases would not be tolerated and that strict action would be taken against responsible officials. This led to the significant disciplinary measures taken by the Revenue Council.
Kanchan Verma, the Commissioner and Secretary of the Revenue Council, explained that under the Chief Minister’s orders, a thorough review was conducted of cases filed under Section 34 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006, across all revenue courts. The review revealed that the pace of case resolution by several officials was unsatisfactory. Despite the government’s priority on timely case resolution, delays were noted, prompting the suspension of the following officials: Pawan Kumar Singh, the then-in-charge tehsildar of Rani Ganj in Pratapgarh (currently tehsildar in Prayagraj), Atul Harsh from Ballia, Haryaram Yadav (former naib tehsildar of Dhanshata, now tehsildar in Gonda), Anand Ojha from Khalilabad in Sant Kabir Nagar, and Vivek Kumar Singh, naib tehsildar of Sarojininagar in Lucknow.
The Revenue Council Secretary stated that alongside the suspensions, disciplinary proceedings will also commence. Responsibilities will be assigned in the relevant cases, and further actions will be determined based on the investigation. This is not a one-time measure; ongoing monitoring of pending revenue cases will continue. Regular reviews of officials’ performance will be conducted, and any negligence in resolving cases within the stipulated timeframe will result in appropriate punitive actions.
The council has made it clear that any laxity in the resolution of pending cases in revenue courts will not be tolerated. Officials must ensure accountability in their responsibilities to provide prompt, transparent, and accessible justice to the farmers and citizens of the state.
