Uttar Pradesh Appoints 1,228 Nursing Officers, Empowering Women in Healthcare

Lucknow, March 22: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed appointment letters to 1,228 newly selected nursing officers on Sunday. This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system and fulfilling the aspirations of thousands of medical candidates.

Notably, among the 1,228 nursing officers, 1,097 are women, while the remaining 131 are men.

Addressing the gathering after the distribution of appointment letters, the Chief Minister stated that this event marks a significant step towards women’s empowerment during the auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri.

Chief Minister Yogi emphasized that the newly appointed nursing officers will not only shape their futures but also write a new chapter of trust and compassion in the state’s healthcare services.

Highlighting the substantial number of female candidates, he expressed pride that out of 1,228 candidates, 1,097 are women. This achievement reflects the government’s efforts over the past nine years to elevate the respect, safety, and dignity of maternal power.

The Chief Minister also interacted with some of the newly appointed officers, who were thrilled and excited about embarking on this new journey in their lives.

He elaborated on the government’s dual-engine efforts to enhance employment opportunities, bridge gaps in economic and social sectors, and implement reforms in the healthcare system within the state.

He mentioned that 35 closed Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) training centers have been reopened, and construction of 35 new nursing colleges is currently underway. The ‘dual-engine government’ has prioritized healthcare, and the positive outcomes of this approach are now evident to all.

He noted a significant reduction in both maternal and infant mortality rates, with Uttar Pradesh now standing at par with the national average in this regard.

Chief Minister Yogi criticized previous governments, stating that a specific ‘mafia’ had controlled every government department.

He asserted that the operations of each department were once dominated by mafia elements. Now, the state has moved beyond the era of mafia dominance and is progressing towards the ‘One District, One Medical College’ initiative, with a medical college and a nursing college established in each district.
