Lucknow, November 28: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant decision making it clear that Aadhaar cards will no longer be accepted as proof of date of birth. The Employment Department has issued formal orders to all government departments in this regard.
This directive has been issued by Amit Singh Bansal, Special Secretary of the Employment Department.
The Employment Department’s order clarifies that no official birth certificate is attached with the Aadhaar card.
UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) also acknowledges that Aadhaar is only a document for identity and address, not proof of date of birth.
Despite this, several state government departments were still accepting Aadhaar cards as date of birth proof. Keeping this in view, this clarification has been issued.
Referring to a letter sent by UIDAI Regional Office Lucknow, it has been stated that Aadhaar card is not an acceptable proof of date of birth.
Following this, the UP government’s Employment Department has directed all departments to implement this as a rule.
In the order issued by Special Secretary Amit Singh Bansal, departments have been instructed not to accept Aadhaar cards as proof of date of birth under any circumstances.
Aadhaar will no longer be recognised as date of birth proof in government jobs, recruitment, educational verification, service records, document examination or any other work.
Copies of the letter have been sent to Private Secretary, Principal Secretary, Employment Department, and Deputy Director General, UIDAI Regional Office Lucknow for information.
The order has requested departments to immediately issue instructions to their respective subordinate offices so that there is no confusion at any level.
