Union Minister Scans Gwaliors Telecom Manufacturing Zone Plans

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reviews plans for Asias first telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior, aiming for significant job creation.

Gwalior, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia conducted a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the plans for Asia’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) proposed in Gwalior. During the meeting, he provided essential directives to the officials involved in the project.

According to information from Scindia’s office, the review followed a site inspection in Gwalior and a meeting with investors in Bengaluru. The discussions centered on the implementation of the project and the future action plan. Scindia emphasized the need for prioritizing all project-related tasks, enhancing coordination among various departments, and accelerating ground-level activities to meet deadlines.

The establishment of the TMZ in Gwalior was formalized with a memorandum of understanding signed on July 30, 2026, between the central government’s Department of Telecommunications and the Madhya Pradesh government. Following this, the first investor roundtable in New Delhi attracted investment proposals totaling ₹3,500 crores, which are expected to generate around 14,000 job opportunities.

Additionally, an investors’ meet held in Mumbai on August 4, 2026, brought in further investment proposals of approximately ₹2,000 crores. This raises the total proposed investment to ₹5,500 crores and the potential job opportunities to 18,000. The first phase of the TMZ will see the development of a 170-acre plug-and-play industrial cluster, providing integrated facilities for telecommunications and electronics manufacturing, research and development, and innovation activities.
