Chandigarh, August 19: The Haryana government has significantly increased employment opportunities for former Agniveers. The government has introduced a 20% horizontal reservation for direct recruitment in specific positions. Additionally, there is a 5% horizontal reservation for other Group-C positions and a 1% reservation for Group-B positions related to skill specialization.
These directives were issued on Tuesday by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.
The 20% horizontal reservation applies to roles such as police constables in the Home Department, constables in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), constables in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), forest guards, wardens in the jail department, mining guards, wildlife guards, and fire operator-cum-drivers.
The category-wise distribution of the 20% reservation includes 2% for Scheduled Castes (SC), 2% for other Scheduled Castes, 2% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and 9% for the unreserved category. Thus, the total reservation for both SC categories amounts to 4%.
For other Group-C positions, the state government has set a 5% horizontal reservation for former Agniveers. The government has also established a process for cases where no suitable former Agniveer is available for the reserved points. In such instances, the vacant position can be filled by an appropriate candidate from the relevant vertical reservation category.
Former Agniveers applying for positions such as police constables, forest guards, jail wardens, mining guards, wildlife guards, and fire operator-cum-drivers will be exempt from the Physical Screening Test (PST), which is typically part of the eligibility process for these recruitments.
The state government has maintained the existing provision that exempts former Agniveers from the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Group-C positions. They will also be exempt from tests related to skills learned during their training for advertised positions.
However, former Agniveers must participate in the written examination conducted by the recruitment agency for the advertised positions.
