Unheard Stories of Valor: Indian Armys Operation Sindoor in the Kutch Region

Bhuj, April 22: Operation Sindoor has marked its first anniversary. The Indian Army has thwarted Pakistan’s schemes from Ladakh to the Kutch region in Gujarat. The operation continues, with preparations being consistently reinforced over the past year. In some of Gujarat’s most challenging terrains—Kutch and the Rann—the army is actively engaged. The Indian Army is enhancing surveillance across the 96-kilometer stretch of the creek using high-speed boats.

The situation has remained unchanged during Operation Sindoor, with the entire creek area under the command of the 75 (Independent) Infantry Brigade. Brigade Commander Brigadier Neeraj Khajuria revealed the measures taken during the operation. In the initial phases, they rapidly deployed troops to ensure security while maintaining a balanced and robust presence to execute any aggressive operations if necessary.

Brigadier Khajuria also noted that between May 7 and 12, Pakistan attempted to monitor and target sensitive areas using drones. The Indian Army responded decisively, collaborating with all agencies. A strong, multi-layered security grid was established, incorporating anti-drone systems, Army Air Defense units, and integrated surveillance teams. Together, they successfully neutralized enemy drones and helped establish home operation control in sensitive areas like the Rann and creek.

The 75 (Independent) Infantry Brigade is a unique formation in the country, combining infantry, armored units, artillery, air defense, and army engineers. High-speed patrol boats, which patrol Pangong Lake, are also deployed in the creek area. Their primary role is to patrol and ensure security in coordination with the BSF and Coast Guard.

This region marks the international border between India and Pakistan, with a long-standing dispute. The Border Security Force monitors the area during peacetime, while the Indian Army serves as the second layer of defense. In times of war, the army collaborates with the BSF to take command.

During Operation Sindoor, numerous soldiers were honored for their bravery and acumen. One soldier reported tracking and shooting down Pakistani drones. The Indian Army’s air defense gun, L-70, thwarted every plot from Pakistan. Approximately 100 drones launched from Pakistan in this area were successfully neutralized.

Across the entire western border, the Indian Army’s air defense guns and missile systems have downed over 600 Pakistani drones, with the L-70 playing a crucial role. The commanding officer of the air defense unit stationed in Kutch stated that the unit acted swiftly and became operational immediately during Operation Sindoor.

Security for the army and vital civilian institutions in the Rajasthan and Kutch sectors has been ensured. By May 7, all air defense systems and units were fully operational. Demonstrating their striking capability, they continuously shot down Pakistani drones, ensuring no damage to Indian military establishments throughout the operation. Indian tanks and artillery were also deployed to the front lines to teach Pakistan a lesson it would not forget.
