Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Agra Highway Claims Two Lives

Mumbai, April 22: A tragic road accident on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway resulted in the death of two individuals, while several others sustained injuries. The incident occurred near a hotel in the Chopda Fata area of Shirpur Taluka, where a speeding freight truck collided violently with an auto-rickshaw.

According to reports, the truck was en route from Dhule to Madhya Pradesh when it struck the auto-rickshaw, which was carrying migrant passengers. The impact was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was extensively damaged, and its occupants were thrown onto the road. Eyewitnesses described chaos at the scene, with bystanders rushing to offer assistance.

Reports indicate that five to six other passengers in the auto-rickshaw were also injured. Local residents helped transport the injured to Shirpur Sub-District Hospital and nearby private hospitals, where they are currently receiving treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

Upon receiving news of the incident, police arrived at the scene to manage the situation. They have taken possession of the deceased’s bodies for post-mortem examinations and have initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that speeding and negligence were the primary causes of the accident.

Additionally, local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while driving and to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents in the future. This accident raises serious concerns about road safety once again.
