On social media platform X, the MEA warmly welcomed Guterres to the India AI Impact Summit. He was greeted by H.D. Malhotra, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Corporate Affairs. India is committed to multilateralism, sustainable development, and global peace, and Guterres’ visit is expected to strengthen the partnership between the UN and India.
Guterres, along with several prominent figures, will be part of the summit on Wednesday. His participation aims to promote inclusivity in artificial intelligence and raise awareness about its risks. His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, announced this information on Monday. Guterres will address the opening session, which will feature many world leaders and over 35,000 participants from more than 100 countries.
The ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026′ commenced in New Delhi on Monday. This global conference includes heads of state, government leaders, ministers, tech industry giants, researchers, and experts from the business sector.
The summit aims to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting inclusive development, robust public policy, and sustainable growth. This is the first global conference of its kind focused on AI in the Global South. It is organized under the India AI Mission, which shifts the global perspective from “AI security” to “AI for development and impact.”
The conference will run until February 20, featuring over 100 government representatives, including more than 20 heads of state and government leaders, along with 60 ministers and deputy ministers.
