Ukraine Targets Moscow Oil Refinery in Latest Strike, Zelensky Claims Success

New Delhi, June 18: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed responsibility for targeting Moscow’s oil refinery for the second time in a week.

Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian military successfully conducted long-range strikes on several key locations in Russia, including the Moscow region. He emphasized that these attacks represent a significant success for the Ukrainian forces, as these sites are crucial for sustaining Russia’s war machinery.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, President Zelensky said, “Last night, our long-range operations reached the Moscow region once again. For the second time this week, we targeted the oil refinery in Moscow. Additionally, strikes were carried out in the Rostov region and in areas temporarily occupied by Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian President described these actions as a justified response to the ongoing attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities by Russia. He highlighted that this marks another important achievement for the Ukrainian military against facilities that support Russia’s war efforts.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to Ukraine’s defense and security forces for their coordinated efforts. He acknowledged the contributions of the Security Service of Ukraine, unmanned systems forces, special operations forces, military intelligence, and missile brigades, who executed their tasks with remarkable precision.

He noted that in recent days, all of Ukraine’s partners have recognized the accuracy and effectiveness of their medium and long-range operations. “It is now time for this war to end, and Russia must take necessary diplomatic steps,” he added.

During the G7 summit held in Evian, France, President Zelensky reported that Ukraine received significant support from international partners. Key agreements were made to increase pressure on Russia and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
