TVS Motors Achieves Record Sales in April 2026

Mumbai, May 3: TVS Motor Company has kicked off the new fiscal year 2027 with impressive momentum. April 2026 proved to be a remarkable month for the company, recording total sales of 473,970 vehicles. This marks a year-on-year increase of 6.82%, compared to 443,000 units sold in the same month last year. Notably, for the first time in its history, TVS has seen scooter sales surpass motorcycle sales.

In the scooter segment, TVS sold 211,158 units in April, reflecting a significant annual growth of 24%. The success of models like Jupiter and Ntorq has greatly contributed to this achievement. Conversely, motorcycle sales experienced a decline of 9%, dropping to 200,039 units. This indicates a slight slowdown in consumer interest in the commuter and premium bike segments.

The electric vehicle (EV) segment also witnessed a surge, with TVS selling 37,771 electric scooters, marking a 36% increase year-on-year. This trend indicates a growing consumer shift from petrol to electric vehicles. Additionally, the company’s three-wheeler business thrived, with sales rising by 37% to 18,637 units in April.

In terms of exports, TVS maintained a strong foothold in the domestic market, selling 353,962 vehicles in India, reflecting an 8% annual increase. However, exports totaled 120,008 units, constrained by global logistics issues and container shortages, which hindered the pace of international sales.

TVS has acknowledged the robust demand for its vehicles in the market. However, supply chain challenges, including raw material shortages and limited shipping container availability, have impacted production levels. The company anticipates that these issues will ease by May 2026, allowing production to return to normal levels.
