Washington, April 21: Amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the ceasefire with Iran will end on Wednesday evening. He emphasized that if Iran does not accept the proposed deal, the likelihood of extending the ceasefire agreement is very low.
According to a CNN report, President Trump stated that Iran is prepared for the second phase of talks in Pakistan. Sources indicate that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and senior officials are set to depart for Pakistan on Tuesday for potential negotiations.
As reported by the Xinhua news agency, Trump noted that the ceasefire, declared on April 7, will conclude Wednesday evening, Eastern Time. He insisted, “I am not going to rush into a bad deal. We have plenty of time.”
In an interview, Trump also mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until a peace agreement is finalized. He remarked, “Iran wants me to open it, but I will not do so until a deal is reached.”
During a phone conversation with PBS News on Monday morning, Trump warned that if the ceasefire with Iran ends, “a lot of bombs will start exploding.” When asked if Iranian negotiators would participate in the upcoming talks in Islamabad, he replied, “I don’t know. I mean, they should be there. We agreed to be present, although they claim we did not. We will see if they show up. If they don’t, that’s fine too.”
The U.S. Central Command reported that by Monday morning, the U.S. military had sent back 27 vessels that were moving to and from Iranian ports.
