New Delhi, April 16: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a claimed agreement for a ten-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. Following discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump stated, “It has been an honor for me to resolve nine wars around the world. This is my tenth attempt.”
Trump emphasized the significant initiative towards a ceasefire and lasting peace after his talks with both leaders. He confirmed that an agreement for a ten-day ceasefire has been reached between the two nations.
He noted that directives have been issued to advance the peace process following recent meetings in Washington. Trump described the ceasefire as a major step towards achieving permanent peace.
In a post on his social media account, Truth Social, Trump shared, “I just had a very productive conversation with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Both leaders have agreed to formally initiate a ten-day ceasefire starting at 5 PM EST.”
He further stated, “For the first time in 34 years, representatives from both countries met here in Washington D.C. with our great Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. I have directed Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary Rubio, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Reddington, to work towards establishing lasting peace with Israel and Lebanon. Resolving nine wars globally has been an honor, and this will be my tenth effort. Let’s make it happen.”
