Lebanons President Thanks Trump for Ceasefire Efforts

New Delhi, April 16: U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun engaged in a phone conversation on Thursday. They discussed efforts to establish a ceasefire and achieve lasting peace in the region.

According to an official post from President Aoun’s account, “During the call, President Aoun expressed gratitude to President Trump for his efforts to secure a ceasefire in Lebanon and ensure lasting peace and stability. These initiatives have paved the way for advancing the peace process in the region.”

He expressed hope that these efforts would continue, aiming to halt the conflict as soon as possible. Trump reiterated his support for President Aoun and Lebanon, emphasizing his full commitment to fulfilling Lebanon’s demands promptly.

After discussions with President Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump claimed a significant initiative towards a ceasefire and permanent peace. He announced that both countries had agreed to a ten-day ceasefire.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated, “I just had a very productive conversation with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Both leaders have agreed to formally initiate a ten-day ceasefire starting at 5 PM EST to establish peace between their nations.”

He further mentioned, “I will invite Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Aoun to the White House. This will be the first meaningful dialogue between Israel and Lebanon since 1983. Both sides desire peace, and I believe it will happen very soon.”
