Agartala, August 16: Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Saturday that the state has made significant advancements in all sectors in recent years. He stated that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled, with a special focus on creating economic opportunities for nearly 4 million people.
During the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles ground, the Chief Minister paid tribute to freedom fighters, martyrs, and nation builders. He urged the public to work together towards building a developed, peaceful, inclusive, and self-reliant Tripura.
CM Saha further highlighted that Tripura is the only state in the country where e-office has been successfully implemented from the highest levels of state administration down to the panchayat level.
He also mentioned that the state has ranked first nationally for two consecutive years in reducing compliance burdens and easing regulations.
During the recently held Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, the state signed 468 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) related to potential investments worth approximately ₹1.32 lakh crore in key sectors.
The Chief Minister noted that Tripura has received national recognition for implementing the PM-Janman and Dharati Aba Janbhagidari campaigns.
He further revealed that Sepahijala district was awarded the Best District Panchayat under the Nanaji Deshmukh Best Panchayat Sustainable Development Award, while Kanchanbari Gram Panchayat in Unakoti was recognized as the Best Healthy Panchayat.
Focusing on agriculture, the Chief Minister stated that over 26,800 farmers have adopted organic farming. Approximately 2.3 million farmers have received direct financial assistance under the PM-Kisan scheme, while 56,600 farmers have been provided loans amounting to ₹438 crore through Kisan Credit Cards.
The state government has also supported animal husbandry and fisheries, including insurance coverage for over 21,000 animals and 1.1 million fish farmers and workers.
CM Saha announced that large-scale cage fish farming has begun in Dumboor Reservoir and Sitadara Lake.
He also mentioned that tourism infrastructure is being expanded, including the development of key sites under the Matabari tourism circuit.
