
Patna, May 18: A devastating accident occurred in the Mansi police station area of Khagaria district, Bihar, on Monday afternoon. A speeding truck collided with an auto-rickshaw filled with passengers, subsequently hitting two other vehicles. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of five individuals, while six others sustained injuries, with two in critical condition.
According to police reports, the accident took place near Thatha village on the national highway in the Mansi police jurisdiction. The auto-rickshaw was traveling from Khagaria towards Maheshkhunt when it was struck by the truck coming from the wrong side at high speed. The impact was so severe that the auto was completely mangled, and passengers were thrown several meters away.
Panic ensued at the scene as local residents rushed to assist the injured. Following the initial collision, the truck also crashed into two additional vehicles. Police officials arrived promptly after receiving reports of the incident. Three individuals were declared dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Authorities stated that the injured were transported to a nearby hospital with the help of locals. Among the injured, two individuals remain in critical condition. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, which include both women and children. The police have taken custody of the bodies for post-mortem examinations and are conducting a thorough investigation into the accident. There are concerns that the death toll may rise.
