Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Two Prisoners in Jaisalmer

A road accident near Jaisalmer results in the deaths of two prisoners, highlighting safety concerns on highways.

Jaisalmer, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic road accident near Jaisalmer has resulted in the deaths of two prisoners from Barmer. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon along the Jaisalmer Road, close to Navle Ki Chakki.

Reports indicate that the vehicle they were traveling in lost control after colliding with a dead animal on the highway. The car then crashed into an oncoming dump truck after breaking through the divider’s railing.

The impact was so severe that the front of the car was completely crushed, trapping both men inside. Bystanders attempted to rescue them by removing debris from the wreckage and rushed them to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared both men dead upon arrival.

A team from the RIICO police station responded quickly to the scene to gather details about the accident. The deceased have been identified as Mahendra, son of Ranaram, and Sujaram, son of Dharmaram, both residents of Deva village in Jaisalmer district. Their bodies have been placed in the government hospital’s mortuary for postmortem examination, and police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Initial assessments suggest that poor visibility due to darkness may have contributed to the accident. The two men were serving sentences for murder at the open jail in Barmer. On the morning of the accident, they had signed in at the jail administration before heading out for work. By evening, both had tragically lost their lives on Jaisalmer Road.

Witnesses reported that the front of the car was severely damaged, leaving the occupants trapped in the wreckage. Efforts by nearby individuals to open the doors and metal panels eventually freed them, but it was too late for medical intervention.

As news of the accident spread, a crowd gathered at the scene. The police conducted an inspection and have begun a thorough investigation to determine the precise causes of the collision.
