Shekhawati, March 31: A tragic accident in the village of Ganedi, located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, has resulted in the deaths of three young children. The incident occurred when a mud tunnel, constructed by the children for play, collapsed. A fourth child narrowly escaped, alerting villagers to the disaster. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families.
The incident took place around noon on Monday. Children aged between 10 and 14 had created a tunnel beneath a mound of earth, approximately 3 to 4 feet high, allowing them to crawl from one side to the other. On that fateful day, Holash Meghwal (10), Gautam Saini (14), and Deepesh Nayak (12) ventured into the tunnel, while Krishna remained just outside.
Suddenly, the tunnel caved in, trapping Holash, Gautam, and Deepesh beneath the soil. Krishna, whose legs were also caught in the debris, attempted to rescue his friends. When his efforts failed, he began to scream for help.
Hearing Krishna’s cries, villagers rushed to the scene and notified the Nechwa police. Upon arrival, the police worked to remove the earth, but sadly, the three children had already lost their lives. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations before being returned to their grieving families.
The families of the deceased children are facing significant hardships. Holash’s father passed away about a year ago, leaving the family in a precarious financial situation. Similarly, Deepesh’s father took his own life approximately 18 months ago. Both Holash and Deepesh were students at a government school. According to Nechwa police station SHO Kailash Chand, the incident occurred while the children were playing, and all necessary procedures have been followed regarding the post-mortem and the return of the bodies to their families.
