Bokaro, March 5: A shocking incident unfolded in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, where the bodies of a young couple were discovered hanging from a tree. The tragic event occurred in Murpa village, under the jurisdiction of the Chatro Chatti police station, where villagers spotted the bodies on Thursday.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The deceased have been identified as Savitri Kumari from Murpa village and Phoolchand Manjhi from Dumriya Tand village in the Hazaribagh district.
Initial reports suggest that the couple had been in a long-term relationship and wished to marry. They had been pressuring their families to approve the marriage. However, both families requested more time for the wedding, proposing to arrange it about a year later.
It is believed that this delay contributed to their despair. Reports indicate that the couple left their homes on Tuesday, a day before Holi, under the pretext of attending the Sarhul festival. They did not return, prompting their families to search for them for two days without any leads.
The bodies were found hanging from a tree near Murpa village. Local residents alerted the police, who arrived at the scene after the villagers had already brought the bodies down. The police have since taken the bodies into custody for post-mortem examination. The village is currently in mourning following this tragic event.
Police officials state that, at first glance, the case appears to be a suicide. However, a thorough investigation is underway, and the cause of death will be clarified once the post-mortem report is available.
