Mumbai, August 3: A tragic incident has occurred in the Dolkhamb area of Shahapur, Maharashtra, where a young tourist lost his life.
Twenty-seven-year-old Sonu Singh fell into the Varapadi River after slipping on the bank. This incident follows a recent tragedy in the same Dolkhamb region, where five tourists were swept away at the Hanuman Waterfall. Of those, three were rescued, but two tragically lost their lives.
Just days after that incident, another tourist death has emerged. Young men from Mumbai had come to enjoy the scenic beauty near the Varapadi River. While wading into the water, Sonu Singh suddenly lost his footing. He collided with a rock and was swept away by the strong current. Local youths quickly attempted to rescue him, but it was too late; he had already drowned.
The Shahapur taluka is known for its numerous waterfalls, rivers, and streams, attracting many tourists from Mumbai, Thane, and Kalyan. However, the rainy season brings swift currents, and the lack of caution is leading to an increase in accidents and fatalities.
