Mumbai, August 3: A case has been registered against the assistant of a sitting Congress MP in Mumbai, linked to a large-scale fraud and forgery racket involving the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) housing schemes.
According to the FIR, the complainant has accused several individuals of collecting money by promising housing allocations, only to issue fake documents and false assurances.
The complaint states that the accused used forged letters, seals, and signatures associated with SRA and cooperative housing offices to gather approximately ₹5.57 crore from the complainant and others over several years. The FIR also mentions misleading statements regarding fake allocation letters and fraudulent possession letters for rooms in various locations across Mumbai, including Andheri, Santacruz, Bandra, Kandivali, and Matunga.
The complainant alleges that the accused conspired to deceive him and other clients by pretending to have access to official channels and promising to secure housing rooms. The police have initiated an investigation under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
