Assams Chief Minister Delivers Strong Message Against Constitutional Disrespect at Dibrugarh Rally
Assams CM Himanta Biswa Sarma highlights public support for democracy at a rally in Dibrugarh, addressing issues of constitutional integrity.

Dibrugarh, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the significance of a large turnout at the recent awareness rally in Dibrugarh. He stated that this gathering sends a clear message to those undermining the Constitution, constitutional institutions, and the will of the people.
In a statement shared on social media, Sarma highlighted that the massive participation reflects the public’s commitment to democratic values and the need to respect constitutional frameworks. He asserted that the rally was a powerful response to forces attempting to weaken these institutions.
“This crowd in Dibrugarh is a resounding slap in the face of those who wish to disregard the Constitution and the opinions of the people,” Sarma declared. He noted that attendees were there to voice their opposition to voter fraud and to support national security.
The Dibrugarh rally is part of a series of public demonstrations organized by the Assam BJP leadership amidst ongoing political confrontations with the Congress party regarding democratic institutions and related allegations. Previously, similar peaceful rallies were announced for Tezpur and Barpeta Road. Sarma described these events as a response to efforts that allegedly seek to change power through street protests and political pressure.
He reiterated that an elected government can only be changed through democratic elections, asserting that the mandate of millions of voters should not be challenged by political demonstrations.
Sarma’s remarks have brought the issue of “fake voters” to the forefront of political discussions, with the BJP linking it to electoral credibility and national security. The Chief Minister has consistently targeted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, especially as they raise concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in several states.
Recently, Sarma criticized Gandhi’s march to the Supreme Court, accusing him of disrespecting constitutional institutions. He pointed out that the Congress party has lost three consecutive general elections and that Gandhi has failed to remove the BJP from power through electoral means.
Tensions continue to rise as the BJP positions these rallies as a grassroots movement aimed at defending constitutional institutions and ensuring electoral integrity.
