Noida, 13 December. With the onset of winter, the impact of fog and mist is steadily increasing in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Visibility during early mornings and late nights has dropped significantly, raising the risk of road accidents multiple times.
Considering this, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police has issued special traffic guidelines in the public interest and for road safety. These instructions will be effective from 15 December 2025 to 15 February 2026. According to the order issued by the traffic department, to reduce fog-related road accidents, the maximum speed limits on major roads in the district have been lowered.
The guidelines specifically include the Yamuna Expressway, Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, and Noida Elevated Road. On the Yamuna Expressway, the speed limit for light motor vehicles such as cars and jeeps is set at 75 kilometres per hour, while heavy vehicles like buses and trucks must not exceed 60 kilometres per hour.
Similarly, on the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, the traffic police have imposed strict speed limits. Light vehicles are allowed a maximum speed of 75 kilometres per hour, and heavy vehicles a maximum of 50 kilometres per hour. Additionally, on the heavily used Noida Elevated Road within the city, speed limits have also been set. Light motor vehicles may travel up to 50 kilometres per hour, and heavy vehicles up to 40 kilometres per hour.
The traffic police order clearly instructs drivers to adhere to the prescribed reduced speed limits to ensure traffic safety. Violators will face fines and legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act. Due to low visibility caused by fog and mist, this initiative by the traffic department is considered crucial for passenger safety.
The police administration has appealed to vehicle drivers to drive cautiously, use fog lights, and maintain a safe distance to prevent any kind of accident.
