Greater Noida, March 22: A serious case of human trafficking has emerged in Greater Noida, where a joint operation by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Bisrakh police thwarted a plot to sell a 10-day-old newborn baby. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with this case.
According to reports, the baby was to be sold for approximately ₹2.60 lakh. The transaction was to involve a couple, who became suspicious and promptly informed Child Line. Upon receiving the alert, relevant agencies sprang into action.
The AHTU, Child Welfare Committee, and Bisrakh police set up a trap. When the female suspect brought the baby for the couple to see, the team raided the location and apprehended her. Following interrogation, the entire trafficking ring was uncovered, leading to the arrest of three individuals.
Police indicated that this gang was involved in the trafficking of newborns, targeting needy or childless couples. This operation has successfully averted a significant human trafficking incident.
Currently, the baby has been safely placed in a shelter home, where she is being cared for. Police are interrogating the suspects and are actively searching for other individuals connected to this network. This incident occurred in the Bisrakh police jurisdiction. Authorities have stated that strict action against such crimes will continue.
Police officials reported that a search operation is underway based on the leads provided by the arrested suspects, aiming to capture other members of the gang and locate missing persons.
They noted that multiple police teams had been working for some time to apprehend these suspects. The arrests were made based on information from informants. More cases may soon be revealed.
During questioning, the suspects disclosed information about several cases of child trafficking they were involved in.
