Ballia, March 24: In a significant police operation in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, three wanted criminals were apprehended following an encounter with law enforcement. Each of these individuals had a bounty of ₹25,000 on their heads. During the confrontation, two of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and were promptly transported to the district hospital for medical treatment.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Kripa Shankar, the police team from the Baria station was on patrol Tuesday night when they received a tip-off. The informant indicated that three wanted criminals, involved in robbery and theft cases, were located south of the road leading from Budhanchak towards the Nayra village route. Acting swiftly, the police team moved to the specified location and initiated a cordon around the suspects.
Upon noticing the police, the criminals attempted to flee and opened fire on the officers. In response, the police fired back in self-defense, resulting in injuries to two of the suspects. After their injuries, the police successfully apprehended them, along with a third accomplice at the scene.
During interrogation, the injured suspects identified themselves as Chandan and Raghav Mishra. The police recovered stolen gold and silver jewelry, along with a motorcycle, which are believed to be linked to recent theft incidents.
Following the incident, additional police forces arrived at the scene to reinforce security in the area. Officials confirmed that all three arrested criminals were wanted in the local jurisdiction and had been evading capture for an extended period.
Currently, the injured suspects are receiving treatment at the district hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable. The police have registered cases against the trio under relevant sections of the law and have initiated legal proceedings. This successful operation has provided a sense of relief to the police department, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
