Gaya, Jind, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : On the final day of the Pitra Paksha festival, devotees are flocking to sacred sites for rituals and holy baths. In Gaya, Bihar, large crowds are seen at Devghat, where people are bathing in the Ganges River.
Dr. Nagendra Singh, who traveled to Gaya with his family, shared, “I have come here to perform the rituals for my ancestors in this land of salvation and wisdom. After the offerings, I feel a sense of peace and tranquility. Hindus come here for the liberation of their ancestors.”
Pankaj Pathak, another visitor, emphasized the significance of Pitra Amavasya. “Today is special because those who couldn’t perform the pind daan or tarpan on other days can do so now. It is believed that doing this on Pitra Amavasya can grant ancestors the benefits of all days and lead to their liberation. The three components of this process—donation, tarpan, and pind daan—are crucial. Donations help eliminate misfortune, making today particularly important.”
Meanwhile, at Somtirth Pandu-Pindara in Jind, Haryana, strict security measures have been implemented for the observance of Shradh Amavasya. Raghav Nand Ji Maharaj spoke about the day’s significance, stating, “In our country, there is deep respect for our ancestors. This day is vital for the peace of their souls.” He also highlighted the importance of the water, earth, and sky at this sacred site.
Raghav Nand Ji Maharaj noted that Lord Krishna instructed the Pandavas to perform pind daan at Somtirth Pandu-Pindara to bring peace to those who died untimely. The Pandavas are said to have resided here for twelve years, adding to the site’s significance.
