BJP Leader Ravneet Singh Bittu Criticizes Punjab Government Over Drug Issue with Disturbing Video

Ravneet Singh Bittu targets Punjabs AAP government over a video showcasing minors using drugs, reigniting political tensions.

Chandigarh, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Former Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu has launched a sharp criticism of the Punjab government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), following the release of a disturbing video. The footage allegedly shows a minor consuming drugs, intensifying the ongoing debate about substance abuse in the state.

Sharing the video on social media platform X, Bittu lamented that the hands that should be holding pens and books have instead been ensnared by addiction due to the government’s failure. He stated, “The innocent hands that should wield pens and books have been handed lethal drugs because of the criminal negligence of the AAP government.”

Bittu also questioned the effectiveness of the Punjab government’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, claiming that the administration’s grand promises have proven to be hollow. He described the initiative as being limited to mere advertisements and public relations efforts.

He highlighted a concerning incident involving two brothers, aged 10 and 13, from the Subhanpur area of Kapurthala, who are reportedly caught in the grip of addiction. Bittu emphasized that this is not just a news story, but a serious warning about the future of Punjab.

Addressing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he urged, “Come out of the intoxication of power. The failures and negligence of your government are consuming the lives of our innocent children.”

The issue of drug abuse in Punjab has been a persistent point of contention, with opposition parties frequently criticizing the state government. The recent murder of activist Parminder Singh Jhota, who spoke out against drugs, has made the topic even more politically sensitive.

Both Congress and the BJP have accused the state government of failing to ensure the safety of those who advocate against drug use. Opposition parties argue that effective measures to combat drug trafficking and its proliferation have not been adequately implemented.

Despite these criticisms, the state government continues to assert that it is actively engaged in a campaign against drugs and is taking stringent action against traffickers. The video shared by Bittu has reignited political discourse, placing the government under renewed scrutiny regarding the drug crisis in Punjab.
