The opening match will feature the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The IPL is known for its explosive batting, with players frequently hitting boundaries. Here are the five highest scores in IPL history.
The record for the highest score in IPL history belongs to Sunrisers Hyderabad. On April 15, 2024, they scored 287 runs against RCB, losing just three wickets in their 20 overs. Travis Head played a remarkable innings, scoring 102 runs off 41 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed 67 runs from 31 balls.
The second-highest total in IPL history is also held by Sunrisers Hyderabad. On March 23, 2025, they amassed 286 runs against Rajasthan Royals, losing six wickets in the process. Ishan Kishan dazzled with a stunning 106 runs off 47 balls, and Travis Head added 67 runs to the scoreboard.
On May 25, 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad once again showcased their batting prowess against Kolkata Knight Riders. In that match, they scored 278 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen shone with a blistering 105 runs off 39 balls, while Head scored 76 runs from 40 balls.
Surprisingly, the fourth-highest score in IPL history is also attributed to Sunrisers Hyderabad. On March 27, 2024, they scored 277 runs against Mumbai Indians, losing three wickets. Klaasen made 80 runs from 34 balls, and Head contributed a quick 62 runs off just 24 balls.
The fifth-highest score in IPL history was achieved by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024 against Delhi Capitals. KKR scored 272 runs, losing seven wickets in their 20 overs. Sunil Narine played a stellar innings, scoring 85 runs off 39 balls, while Ankur Raghuwanshi added 54 runs from 27 balls.
