Mumbai, May 22: Iconic songs from Hindi cinema continue to hold a special place in people’s hearts. One such song is ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke,’ which has a remarkable story behind it. Recently, during a performance on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol,’ music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani shared an intriguing anecdote related to this classic track.
During the show, Vishal recounted the creation of ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke.’ He explained that the song was a brilliant collaboration between the legendary composer R.D. Burman (Pancham Da) and esteemed lyricist Anand Bakshi. Vishal noted, “Pancham Da worked tirelessly through the night to compose the tune. Once it was ready, he handed it over to Anand Bakshi to write the lyrics.”
Vishal further elaborated, “At that time, it was the monsoon season. Anand Bakshi was returning home at night and trying to light a cigarette. However, due to the rain, his lighter kept going out. That small moment sparked a big idea in his mind. It was then that the line came to him – ‘Chingari koi bhadke to saavan use bujhaaye.’ This was the moment that inspired the words of this famous song.”
While sharing this story, Vishal Dadlani remarked, “True artists are those who can transform ordinary life events into something beautiful that resonates in people’s hearts forever. An average person might overlook such an incident, but a lyricist like Anand Bakshi turned that moment into an immortal song. I salute both Pancham Da and Anand Bakshi. Their creations are still as beloved today as they were back then.”
Notably, ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke’ is a famous song from the 1972 film ‘Amar Prem,’ featuring superstar Rajesh Khanna and actress Sharmila Tagore in lead roles. The film and its songs were immensely popular among audiences, especially ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke,’ which remains a favorite among older generations. The song was beautifully rendered by the legendary Kishore Kumar.
