Territorial Army Announces Recruitment Rally for 161 Positions Starting May 5

New Delhi, April 19: A significant opportunity has emerged for those aspiring to serve the nation. The 137th Overall Ecological Task Force Battalion (Territorial Army), 39 Gorkha Rifles, has announced a recruitment rally for the year 2026. A total of 161 positions will be filled through this recruitment process, and candidates must participate in the direct recruitment rally.

The recruitment rally will commence on May 5 and will be conducted in multiple phases until May 23. The first phase will take place in West Bengal’s Bhangdubi from May 5 to May 8. The second phase is scheduled for May 13 to May 16 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, while the third and final phase will occur in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from May 20 to May 23. All candidates are required to report by 7 AM.

This recruitment will include 7 positions for Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) (GD), 143 positions for Soldier GD, 3 positions for Soldier Clerk, 2 for Chef, 1 for Tailor, 3 for Housekeeper, and 1 position each for Washerman and Dresser.

Eligible candidates must have previously served in the army or have worked for at least 20 years in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, or the state forest department.

The age limit for candidates is determined based on their retirement. The maximum age for the JCO position is set at 55 years, while for other ranks, it is 50 years. Additionally, candidates must meet the medical category Shape-1 requirements.

The recruitment process will be conducted in a phased manner, starting with a physical test that includes a one-mile run, pull-ups, ditch jump, and balance test. Following this, candidates will undergo a proficiency test based on their trade. Those who pass these stages will then face a medical examination and, finally, an interview.

Regarding salary and allowances, selected candidates will receive a basic salary according to their rank and service group. They will also be entitled to dearness allowance, house rent allowance, children’s education allowance, and other benefits. However, there will be no pension, gratuity, or increment benefits in this service, although existing pensions will remain unaffected.

Candidates must bring all necessary documents to the recruitment rally, including discharge book, Pension Payment Order (PPO), colored photographs, educational certificates, and domicile certificate. The recruitment process is entirely free of charge.
