Tensions Rise Between BJP and TMC in West Bengal Ahead of Elections: Dilip Ghosh

Khargapur, March 23: The political atmosphere in West Bengal is heating up as the assembly elections approach. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and opposition leaders are engaged in a war of words. BJP leaders are highlighting the shortcomings of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government, claiming that change is on the horizon.

Dilip Ghosh, the BJP candidate and senior party leader from Khargapur, stated in an interview with IANS, “This time, the battle is between the BJP and TMC. The people want change and believe that the BJP can bring it and win.”

He further asserted, “Mamata Banerjee’s party will not win easily this time. That’s why we are holding meetings with our workers. Until now, TMC workers created disturbances, but this time they are on the back foot. CCTV cameras will be installed everywhere, and the Election Commission will keep a close watch. Why is Mamata Banerjee installing CCTV? Because there are rifts and conspiracies within her party.”

Ghosh criticized Banerjee for calling Prime Minister Modi an outsider, while pointing out that Yusuf Pathan contests elections here from Gujarat. He also noted that Shatrughan Sinha can come from Bihar, but they are not labeled as ‘intruders.’ He remarked that even those coming from Bangladesh, like the Rohingyas, are not considered ‘intruders.’

It is noteworthy that Dilip Ghosh has been consistently attacking Mamata Banerjee and her government. He frequently makes statements about the TMC government and its leaders. On March 17, the TMC filed a complaint against Ghosh with the Election Commission, alleging that he threatened violence against TMC leaders and workers, violating the model code of conduct. Reports and video recordings of these statements have been circulating on various platforms, even after the implementation of the National Control Act (MCC) in West Bengal.
