Kolkata, March 27: As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are making bold claims about forming the next government. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has dismissed the BJP’s assertions, stating that all their claims will ultimately prove false.
Ghosh referenced the 2021 Assembly elections, where the BJP claimed they would win over 200 seats. He pointed out that the election results were clear for all of Bengal to see.
In a conversation in Kolkata, Ghosh reminded the BJP of their dismal performance in 2021, despite their current claims of forming a government. The BJP had previously campaigned with the slogan “this time over 200,” yet they faced defeat, securing only 77 seats. Ghosh predicts that in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections, the BJP will be satisfied with just 26 seats. He confidently asserted that Mamata Banerjee will once again ascend to power with a significant majority.
Ghosh also raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process, mentioning the potential for Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering and the BJP’s alleged manipulation of voter lists. He challenged that, despite all efforts, the BJP will face a crushing defeat in this election, as the people of Bengal will vote against them.
He further claimed that the BJP’s “B team” in Bengal would not win a single seat, emphasizing that the public’s vote will go to the TMC.
Regarding an upcoming video conference with Prime Minister Modi and all state chief ministers amidst rising tensions in West Asia, Ghosh criticized the government’s handling of the oil crisis, suggesting it reflects their failure to anticipate the conflict in the Middle East.
