Jaipur, November 8 (Daily Kiran): A sharp cold wave has gripped Rajasthan as temperatures plunged by up to 10 degrees Celsius within just two days. Due to the western disturbance that caused snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the cold has intensified across the plains, including Rajasthan.
On Friday, five cities in the state recorded single-digit minimum temperatures, marking the coldest night of the season so far. The mercury dropped significantly in Nagaur, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Udaipur, with chilly winds sweeping through most regions. The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has forecast clear and dry weather across the state for the next week.
Nagaur Coldest at 6.7°C
According to the weather department, Nagaur recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 6.7°C, making it the coldest city in Rajasthan. Ajmer experienced its coldest night of the season at 8.2°C, while Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur also saw a sharp dip in night temperatures.
Clear Skies, Bright Sunshine During the Day
With the influence of northwesterly winds, skies across Rajasthan have cleared completely, reducing pollution levels and bringing bright sunshine during the day. Despite chilly mornings and evenings, the days remain pleasant with slight variations in maximum temperatures.
On Friday, Barmer recorded the highest maximum temperature at 34.1°C, followed by Jaisalmer (33.3°C), Phalodi (31.8°C), Bikaner (30.8°C), Jodhpur (30.6°C), Pilani (30.5°C), and Tonk (30.1°C). Most other cities reported daytime highs below 30°C.
The Meteorological Department expects the current weather pattern — cold mornings, warm days, and clear skies — to continue across the state for at least the next seven days.
