Telangana Chief Minister Issues Strong Warning to Congress Leaders on SIR Process

Hyderabad, June 24: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sent a stern message to party leaders regarding the SIR process. He warned that any leader who shows negligence in following party directives will face strict action.

During a Zoom meeting with party leaders on Wednesday, the Chief Minister instructed ministers, legislators, MPs, and constituency in-charges to remain extremely vigilant regarding the SIR process. He noted reports suggesting that many genuine and eligible voters’ names could be removed from the electoral rolls, urging Congress leaders to address this issue with utmost seriousness.

Revanth Reddy cautioned that those in charge who fail to implement party directives will be replaced. “We will not tolerate any form of negligence, and the performance of in-charges will be closely monitored over the next ten days,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also appealed to Congress-supported sarpanches to conduct awareness campaigns about the SIR process in villages and inform people about its significance. He emphasized that SIR is a critical issue, and some leaders are not treating it with the seriousness it deserves.

Revanth Reddy made it clear that he will not remain a bystander if the party suffers any losses. He mentioned that he has received district-wise reports regarding SIR awareness meetings. He has tasked in-charge ministers with organizing as many awareness programs as possible and ensuring the success of these meetings.

He stressed the importance of protecting the voting rights of the poor during the SIR process. According to him, if the names of the poor are removed from the electoral rolls, it could also impact their access to other benefits like Aadhaar cards and ration cards in the future.

The meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including Mahesh Kumar Goud, Meenakshi Natarajan, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Sachin Sawant.

TPC President Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that Congress workers play a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of all genuine voters. He advised workers to keep a close watch on BJP strategies and remain alert, referencing the issue of voter name removals in West Bengal as a reason for heightened caution.
