
Hyderabad, April 22: Telangana is set to establish the best road network in India by 2028, backed by a planned investment of ₹98,000 crore for road development projects.
During a special review meeting on road construction and infrastructure development, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy instructed officials to prioritize the ₹98,000 crore road development program and ensure its swift implementation.
The ministers highlighted that, unprecedentedly in the history of the undivided state, road construction and development projects worth ₹98,000 crore are underway.
They emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state government is taking all necessary steps to make Telangana the number one state in India for road infrastructure by the end of 2028.
Minister Venkat Reddy announced that the prestigious Indian Roads Congress (IRC) conference, which attracts contractors and infrastructure experts from India and around the world, will be held in November 2026 at Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Limited.
He further noted that due to his strong relations with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, they successfully brought this event to Hyderabad despite competition from BJP-ruled states.
The minister also reminded that Mohan Nayak from the state has been elected as the IRC president. He expressed gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for providing the necessary funds for organizing the event.
He is confident that the IRC meeting will attract over ₹20,000 crore in investments to the state.
The road development works include the construction of access roads at a cost of ₹148 crore to resolve connectivity issues in approximately 300 villages.
Minister Venkat Reddy stated that under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), roads spanning 6,000 kilometers are being developed at a cost of ₹13,000 crore.
Bids have been completed, and work will commence soon.
The Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway is being upgraded to an eight-lane corridor (six main lanes and two service lanes) at a cost of ₹20,000 crore.
Flyovers and bridges are being constructed at accident-prone areas like Choutuppal and Chityal at a cost of ₹500 crore.
A new road project from Future City to the Amaravati-Bandar Port is planned, with alignment proposals already submitted to the central government, costing ₹20,000 crore.
A parallel alignment for a bullet train has also been proposed.
The minister further mentioned that ₹8,000 crore has been allocated for a 52-kilometer elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam.
He added that ₹36,000 crore has been approved for the Regional Ring Road, described as a revolutionary project.
