Hyderabad, June 16: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on Tuesday linked to a case of alleged disproportionate assets involving an official from the Lands and Survey Department.
ACB officials executed a coordinated search operation at 12 locations in and around Hyderabad, targeting Deputy Director Sunakari Narhari of the Lands and Survey (Multi Zone-2) department. He is accused of accumulating assets far exceeding his known sources of income.
Under the leadership of ACB DSP Gangasani Sridhar, searches were carried out at Narhari’s residence in the old city area of Chatrinaka, his office in Narayanguda, and properties associated with his relatives and close associates.
Sources indicate that officials seized approximately ₹1 crore in cash, documents related to various properties, and a significant amount of bank deposits. ACB officials utilized currency counting machines to tally stacks of cash and weighed gold jewelry and silver items. The anti-corruption agency continues to investigate his assets, bank accounts, and investments.
A detailed statement from the ACB is expected later in the evening, based on the findings from the raids.
This operation follows the arrest of Chief Engineer Mohan Naik from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department just a week prior, who was also implicated in a case of disproportionate assets. On June 9, ACB officials raided properties linked to Naik and his relatives.
During those searches, authorities recovered ₹60 lakh in cash, one kilogram of gold jewelry, and 13 gold biscuits, along with property documents in Hyderabad and Nizamabad. According to the ACB, the government value of the assets seized during the operation was approximately ₹17.95 crore, while their market value is estimated to be around ₹200 crore.
The agency presented Mohan Naik in court, where he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. He is accused of favoring certain companies in contract awards and establishing a vast network to extend his influence across Telangana.
