Tech Sessions Shine at JECC Police Expo: Focus on AI, Forensics and New Criminal Laws

Jaipur, October 16 (Daily Kiran): The ongoing Police Exhibition at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) has turned into a vibrant platform for in-depth discussions on artificial intelligence, forensic science, and prison reforms. Aimed at preparing the police force for the implementation of the new criminal laws, a series of knowledge sessions are being held for officers and legal stakeholders. The sessions are being personally monitored by ADG and RPA Director S. Sengathir.

Deliberations on AI Challenges in Policing

The first technical session focused on the role of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in policing. Independent researcher Kshitij Verma presented insights into AI’s current landscape and its applications in law enforcement. ADG (ATS & SOG) V.K. Singh shared his views on integrating AI into police operations and the challenges it poses under the new legal framework. RPA Director S. Sengathir, IG SCRB Ajay Pal Lamba, Director Intelligence Training Academy Pradeep Mohan Sharma, and DIG Police (SOG) Paris Deshmukh were among the 160 officers who attended the session.

Panel on Forensics and New Criminal Laws

The next session featured a panel discussion on the role of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) under the new criminal laws. RPS trainee officers and students from the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) participated. The panel included FSL Director Jaipur Ajay Sharma, former FSL Director S.S. Daga, and NFSU Campus Director Rakhi Agarwal. The experts discussed the evolving role of forensic science and addressed over 120 participants’ queries in an interactive dialogue.

Focus on Prison Reforms and Legal Provisions

A special session was held for officers from the Bikaner Range and the Prison Department. IG (Prisons) Jaipur Vikram Singh shared information on innovations being adopted for prison reforms and their alignment with the new laws. Around 190 officers attended this panel discussion.

Discussions on Challenges in Law Implementation

Another significant session for officers from the Udaipur Range focused on key provisions of the new criminal laws, as well as technological and forensic evidence. Assistant Director Prosecution Ramesh Choudhary and Police Inspector Dheeraj Verma led the discussions. The session was attended by around 180 officers, ranging from constables to Additional Superintendents of Police, who discussed challenges in implementing the new laws.

These ongoing sessions are helping police personnel adapt to the evolving legal framework and emerging technologies, ensuring they are well-prepared for the new era of law enforcement.
