Tata Nexon Dominates February 2026 Car Sales, Maruti Dzire Falls Just Short

New Delhi, March 8: The Indian car market saw Tata Nexon maintain its leading position in February 2026. The popular SUV recorded impressive sales figures, solidifying its status as a consumer favorite. According to reports, Tata Nexon, including its electric variant, emerged as the best-selling car of the month, despite a month-over-month (MoM) decline of approximately 17%.

In February 2026, Tata Nexon sold over 19,400 units. Although this was a slight decrease compared to January, it remained the top-selling car in India. Following closely was the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which secured the second position. Notably, Dzire was the only sedan in the top 15 list, selling around 19,300 units, just 105 units behind Nexon. Its strong demand in the commercial segment has contributed to its consistent sales.

The Tata Punch secured the third spot, with combined sales of Punch and Punch EV keeping it in the top three. Although it experienced a 3% drop in sales, its popularity remains strong.

The top 15 best-selling cars in February 2026 are as follows:

1. Tata Nexon (ICE + EV) – 19,430 units
2. Maruti Dzire – 19,326 units
3. Tata Punch (ICE + EV) – 18,748 units
4. Hyundai Creta (ICE + EV) – 17,938 units
5. Maruti Brezza – 17,863 units
6. Maruti Ertiga – 17,807 units
7. Maruti Wagon R – 14,885 units
8. Maruti Swift – 14,833 units
9. Mahindra Scorpio (includes Scorpio N) – 14,665 units
10. Maruti Baleno – 14,632 units
11. Maruti Fronx – 13,898 units
12. Maruti Victoris – 13,021 units
13. Maruti Eeco – 11,620 units
14. Mahindra Thar (includes Thar Roxx) – 11,047 units
15. Hyundai Venue (includes Venue N Line) – 10,494 units

The Hyundai Creta also showed resilience in the market, with a slight increase in sales, including figures from Creta EV and Creta N Line. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki Brezza performed well, with a 2% increase in sales, surpassing Ertiga and Swift.

However, several popular models faced declines in sales. The Maruti Swift saw a significant drop of about 17%, while the Baleno and Hyundai Venue experienced declines of 13% and 15%, respectively. Despite these drops, demand for these models remains robust.

In the SUV segment, Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio-N showed strong sales, while Mahindra Thar and Thar Roxx experienced a month-over-month decline but saw a 19% increase year-over-year.

Notably, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco made its way into the top 15 list, selling over 11,600 units and replacing the Alto.

The dominance of the SUV segment is evident in February 2026, with Tata Nexon leading the pack and multiple Maruti models featuring prominently in the top-selling list. Anticipated new launches and offers in the coming months may further impact these rankings.
