Tamil Nadu Police Officers Honored with Presidents Service Medals

Chennai, August 16: Twenty officers from the Tamil Nadu Police have been selected for prestigious service medals announced by the central government on the occasion of Independence Day.

Three police officials will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while 17 others have been chosen for the Commendation Medal.

The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service recognizes exceptional records in policing, whereas the Commendation Medal honors ongoing professional commitment and exemplary performance.

The recipients of the Distinguished Service Medal include Additional SP K. Ramachandran, Additional SP J. Vijay Anand, and Assistant Commandant S. Kumar. The Commendation Medal winners comprise Additional SP M. Somesundaram, Additional SP K. Shivshankar, Additional SP P. Govindaraju, DSP S. Shanmugam, and Assistant Commandant S. Manimaran.

The 17 officers selected for the Commendation Medal represent various units of the state police, including the Coastal Security Group, Crime Branch-CID, State Intelligence, Cyber Crime Wing, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate, and Tamil Nadu Special Police.

Notable recipients include M. Somesundaram, Additional SP Headquarters from Salem, K. Shivshankar, Additional SP (Coastal Security Group) from Nagapattinam, P. Govindaraju, Additional SP Headquarters from Tirupathur, and S. Shanmugam, DSP from Muthukulathur.

Other honorees include Assistant Commandant S. Manimaran from the Tamil Nadu Special Police’s 13th Battalion in Avadi, I. Jeya Princess, CBCID Inspector from Thoothukudi, C. Mathimaran, CBCID Inspector from Chennai, P. Mariyappan, CID Inspector from Chennai Security Branch, K. Saraswati, CBCID Inspector from Nilgiri, and S. Lakshmi, CBCID Inspector from Tiruchi.

The list also features G. Batharunisa Begum, Inspector from Tirupur Crime Record Bureau, K. Gopal, DVAC Inspector from Chennai, C. Lakshmi, CID Inspector from Chennai ‘Q’ Branch, and S. Malathi, Inspector from Chennai Cyber Crime Wing.

Additionally, the remaining awardees include N. Sathurghiri, Sub-Inspector from Chennai ‘Q’ Branch CID, R. Senthil Kumar, Sub-Inspector (Special Branch) from Tiruchi, and S. Sub-Inspector from the Intelligence Section in Chennai.

These Independence Day honors recognize the dedication and contributions of police personnel working in investigation, intelligence, security, and special operations.
