Chennai, April 16: The Tamil Nadu State Cyber Crime Wing has successfully resolved the leak of the highly anticipated film ‘Jan Nayakan,’ starring actor Vijay. On Thursday, police announced the arrest of three additional individuals linked to the case.
Previously, six people had already been apprehended, bringing the total number of arrests to nine with the recent detentions of the main suspects.
According to a statement from the Cyber Crime Wing, these three individuals were arrested based on extensive technical investigations and digital evidence. They were involved in creating and distributing pirated copies of the film online.
The primary suspect was working as a freelance assistant editor for another film. He gained unauthorized access to the reels of ‘Jan Nayakan’ at an editing studio and stole them. This stolen data was later transformed into a film format and shared with other suspects, leading to the widespread circulation of pirated copies on the internet.
The three arrested suspects were presented in court and have been remanded to judicial custody. The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing issued a stern warning to the public, stating that downloading, streaming, or sharing pirated content is a serious offense.
The police emphasized, “Involvement in digital piracy can have severe legal consequences.” They urged individuals to report any pirated links or suspicious content to the Cyber Crime Wing immediately.
Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jan Nayakan’ features superstar Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The leak incident has sparked outrage among industry professionals. Notable figures such as Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Vignesh Shivan, Vijay Deverakonda, and Pooja Hegde have condemned the act and demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
