Chennai, August 6: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister S. Joseph Vijay has convened a consultation meeting with all Members of Parliament from the state to discuss the central government’s proposed delimitation process and its potential impact on Tamil Nadu.
The meeting is scheduled for August 8 at 3 PM at Kalaiyavanar Arangam in Chepauk, Chennai, and will be chaired by the Chief Minister. Members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha representing Tamil Nadu have been invited to participate and share their views.
According to the state government, invitations are being sent to all Tamil Nadu MPs through the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi. The aim of this consultation is to foster a common understanding among the state’s representatives regarding the proposed redistricting of constituencies in Parliament.
It is anticipated that the central government will take steps towards the delimitation process, which involves reorganizing parliamentary and assembly constituency boundaries and representation based on population and constitutional provisions. This proposed process has raised concerns about its potential effects on Tamil Nadu’s representation in Parliament.
